Would you be a good volunteer mentor or advisor?

Here’s one pretty easy thing you can do to create positive change for yourself and others.

doing good to feel good.

Between social media and the 24-hour news cycle, it is easier than ever to find yourself drowning in a flood of things you aren’t sure what to do about. The big problems can seem bigger than they’ve ever been and its easy to find yourself searching for something to help you focus on the positives. You may have turned to sweets, happy hours, therapy, massages, vacations, or other forms of self-care focused on making you feel better. But, as it turns out, the key to making yourself happier is to focus on making someone else happy instead.

Numerous studies have found a correlation between doing good and feeling good. For example, in a 2016 study titled Do unto others or treat yourself?researchers found that participants who did something to benefit others were more likely to report feeling happy than people who did nothing. And, despite what all the #selfcare posts on Instagram may tell us, participants who treated themselves (instead of someone else) did not see any lasting improvement in happiness or well-being.
