A community of support
As a nonprofit, our goal is to empower young entrepreneurs (ages 18 - 29) to recruit the support they need to help plan, build, and grow their businesses. We do this by providing access to social support, mentorship and advising from industry experts, training, and funding opportunities through our skysthelimit.org digital platform.
Through our unique platform, entrepreneurs can connect with each other and a community of volunteer supporters in a way that is convenient and effective. And our volunteers benefit too through upskilling opportunities and the unmatched satisfaction of helping someone fulfill their dreams!
What we offer entrepreneurs:
TRAINING & RESOURCES
Entrepreneurs who have access to training and tested resources will have an advantage over those who don’t, which is why schools like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT have entire programs devoted to training in entrepreneurship. Our research-backed training and library of resources will help you start quickly and avoid unnecessary trial and error so you can focus on growing your business.
Most entrepreneurs get their start by borrowing money from friends and family, but that doesn’t work for everyone. Skythelimit.org creates a virtual friends and family network by connecting entrepreneurs with our community of donors. Our “Friends and Family Fund” awards at least one startup grant per month (up to $2500) and we also work with partner organizations to connect entrepreneurs to other low-risk funding opportunities.
Increasing social capital is our highest priority because we know that communities with higher social capital see more startup success. Because we believe that success shouldn’t be determined by the community you happen to be born into, we built Skyshthelimit.org to connect our community of entrepreneurs and supporters across geographic boundaries. Through virtual meetings and digital resources, we connect young entrepreneurs to each other and a community of supporters.
What we offer volunteers:
Our program offers a unique opportunity to work directly with the community served. We offer support and training to allow our volunteers to form real relationships with young entrepreneurs. You’ll love seeing the impact of your efforts in real time.
Options in how you participate
Unlike a mandatory training session or workshop, building leadership skills with Skysthelimit.org allows flexibility in how and when you participate. There’s no commitment to support someone until you decide to. Start with a 30 minute meeting to get to know a young entrepreneur. If it’s a good fit, great! You can meet again to co-create a plan of action. Or you can meet with additional entrepreneurs to see who you would best work with.
We know that as a busy professional, finding time to volunteer can be challenging. We’ve solved for that by creating a program that is flexible both in when you volunteer and how. You can choose your time commitment, co-create meeting schedules, and conduct meetings via phone calls or video chat, or even work on projects asynchronously.
LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE & UPSKILLING
Mentoring skills are in high-demand and are often desired for promotions. By advising, mentoring and otherwise supporting our diverse community of entrepreneurs as they build and grown their businesses, volunteers get hands-on experiencing with lean startup methodology and cross-cultural communication, as well as developing power skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and values clarification.
Did you know that increasing your social connections can have a positive impact on your health, and volunteering can even lead to a longer life? As a Skysthelimit.org, our volunteer, you’ll become part of a larger community of entrepreneurs and supporters, and through our partner programs, you can still remain connected to other members of the organization you may have joined through.
HAPPINESS & SELF-CARE
Researchers have found a correlation between doing good and feeling good, and they’ve even found that doing something nice for someone else leads to more happiness than doing something for yourself. You can practice self-care by helping others. Volunteering through Skysthelimit.org offers convenient ways to both do good and feel good, all while making a lasting impact by increasing a young adults’ opportunities for economic self-sufficiency.
The average adult now spends close to half a day consuming media, with nearly two hours of that devoted to web/app usage on smartphones. As we learn more about the negative consequences of online media consumption, many want to be more mindful when spending time online. Skysthelimit.org takes a net positive approach to technology, using tech not for profit but for social impact. The interactions we have designed on the platform leave our community with a lasting sense of satisfaction rooted in real connections. With just a few small changes in your daily online habits, you can build meaningful relationships that start on our platform, while contributing to a better digital ecosystem for all.

Entrepreneurship for everyone.
That’s how many underserved young adults in the United States say they want to start a business — but they lack the resources to do so. We believe the key to empowering entrepreneurs is to provide them with the right support, from the right people, at the right time in their entrepreneurial journey.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our mission is to empower underrepresented young entrepreneurs to fulfill their business dreams by creating pathways to social support, training and financial capital.
How it works…
Sign up as a volunteer if you’d like to offer support to young entrepreneurs. Or, sign up as an entrepreneur if you would to receive support from our volunteer community. You’ll be asked to create a profile, and you’ll get immediate access to all our training materials.
You will be invited to connect with other members of the Skysthelimit.org community so that you can work together on business goals, plans, pitches, or other aspects of your entrepreneurial journey. Volunteers can offer general business advice or specialized area knowledge and skills. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to work with multiple volunteer supporters as well as peer-to-peer with other entrepreneurs via virtual or in-person meetings. There is no limit to the number of people you can connect with!
Through our Pathway to Entrepreneurship resources, support from our community, and grants through our Friends & Family Fund, our Entrepreneurs launch and grow their businesses while developing valuable entrepreneurial skills. At the same time, our volunteer supporters get a flexible but meaningful opportunity to upskill and make an impact in a young person’s life.
